Abstract: Aim: Hypertension exhibits a circadian rhythm and drugs need to be released at the time when blood pressure is elevated most. This elevation pronounced 7 pm 4 am. Atenolol an anti-hypertensive drug with absorption window mainly in upper section of gastrointestinal tract. The present investigation was aimed designing floating pulsatile capsules for dual release atenolol stomach effective management hypertension. Materials Methods: designed had different components: formaldehyde-treated capsule body; untreated cap; polymer plug layer, containing polymer; two atenolol-containing immediaterelease tablets swellable layer. layer made hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (K4M or E50) xanthan gum alone combination. were characterized weight variation, percent content, in-vitro behaviour property. Results: outcomes studies showed that lag duration between pulses from formulations can adjusted by manipulating composition optimized provided first pulse immediately after administration cover point symptoms.
